In ancient times
when not many media were known to furnish homes and public
places, stone was used to provide seating and sleeping
arrangements. The kings and emperors used stone for
beautiful ponds, windows and ventilators in palaces. Modern
day furnishers have also experimented with this medium to
provide excellent options for seating, working and
otherwise. Marble, granite and sandstone all the three are
extensively used to create splendid sofa-sets, worktables,
coffee tables, screens, dining tables and all kinds of
chairs. Marble, granite and sandstone are also used as inlay
devices in wood and metal to offer a great selection of
furniture. Lace work panels are employed to mark divisions
and sections, these panels with ornate inlay work also adorn
the windows and doors of umpteen people. Marble, granite and
sandstone are used alone as well as are fused with other
furnishing media to create dramatic effects. Granite is an igneous rock, dense-grained and hard and containing small flecks throughout that create a salt-and-pepper look. marble, meanwhile, was once limestone that metamorphosed from intense pressure and high temperature within the earth. this altered its crystalline structure and introduced other minerals that imparted colour and gave it a veined effect.
